Samuel Coleridge Taylor was born on 15 August 1875 in London, the son of Daniel Peter Taylor a doctor from Sierra Leone and Alice Hare (possible Holman).[1]. Samuel became a brilliant musician and composer. During his career he published 59 compostions and is best known for Hiawatha's Wedding Feast.

He married Jessie Sarah Fleetwood Walmisley in 1899 and they had two children. Taylor died of pneumonia in 1912. [2]
